Elastic for life?

Ok so my question for parents of skinny children… How long before my little guy can wear a pair of jeans?!?!? I am a big fan of khakis, jeans, things with buttons. I took all three children to do a little school shopping since I had a great coupon to use. Blake loved to try on things just like his big brother. Our problem is he is so little. The only pants that even remotely work are athletic pants that have a waist band we can fold over. Any suggestions on a particular brand/store that caters to children in the 2 percentile on the weight chart?!?!

I make the above comments a bit jokingly. Blake is a bit small for his age, but he is healthy. Our doctor and we are not too concerned about his measurements (assuming that they continue to increase appropriately). He eats regularly, but he also runs around like crazy so I have no doubt he is burning as many calories as he is taking in. He really hasn't gained but maybe one pound since being home despite our efforts. (Now if I could just manage to do that with my own diet and exercise plan we would be doing well!)

We leave Friday morning for our vacation to St. Louis. This is the one we have actually planned all summer - not the surprise that popped up over July 4th. We are super excited to be meeting up with the Pitman family (and maybe the Fritsche family) on Friday evening! Also Justin’s brother, sister-in-law, and niece will be joining us for a couple of days to go to a baseball game and hang out.

Our friend’s daughter, Lauren Hensley, came out and took some pictures for us last week. Here are a few of them.

I have nothing for skinny jeans. Ethan hated jeans until 1st grade & by that time he'd become a little more proportional ;-)

Make sure you take in the City Museum. Your kids will love it!

If you have a Children's Place near you, they sell jeans that have the adjustable waist. My middle child has the same problem and they work really well for her. Hope this helps

look for adjustable waist jeans/pants. try carters or oshkosh or higher end name brand stores. Try ebay too. You can get good quality for less. We looked for sweats that had drawstring but not many do anymore. Ethan is 7 and can wear about a 4 or 5 length but still wears a 24 month shorts just fine around the waist so I sure can relate to your problem!

Target and JC Penney sell adjustable waist pants/shorts. We had to buy them for quite a while with our 15 year old when he was a little guy.

Love the picture of the family of 5! Can't wait until we too can post one!

Have a great vacation! Enjoy! Enjoy!

Beautiful family pictures!

Yes, JCPenney carries adjustable waist jeans by Levis and Arizona. We have to buy them for Nathan. There is elastic on the inside that lets you tighten them up as much as needed, and the elastic fastens inside with a button.

Great pictures! Try the adjustable waist jeans from Baby GAP, Children's Place, Target, etc. They work well. Noah is tiny for his age as well. He is going to be 5 and his waist is that of a 2 year old. :)

I think my sister always bought the slim with adjustable waist from Gap for Gavin when he was younger. Although, they may not have the slim variety for the toddlers?
Have fun in St.Louis. We enjoyed the zoo and Magic House a few years back. Park along the street at the zoo, then it will be completely free. Penguin exhibit is really fun, and don't miss Sparky the Sea Lion show.

We always have to get jeans with the button hole elastic for Joel. Like the previous commenters said. Also Old Navy ;) Love the pictures! Sounds like things are going great!

Oh, we know about skinny kids. Sergei put the weight on quickly but Ruslan did not. We have an awful time trying to find pants for him. When I was in Florida last November, I came across some Heathtex pants that were longer in length but fit better in the waist. We would never survive without the button hole elastic! Target and Old Navy have these styles.

It sounds like everything is going great with the kids. They are adorable!

Hi Heather! As you know I am having the same issues with Tori and her size. Though I might have it a little better, skirts and such usually have elastic...but anything else, she is pulling up often. She is active just like Blake but also very selective with her food. I hope you all are doing well!! Love, love, love the pics....tell Valaira (Ssp?) Ira says Hi! She loves seeing the pics of him!
